Samsung Standby Screen/ 2005
Feature mobile phones in the mid-2000s needed standby screens that delivered time, status, and personality at a glance. For the Japanese market in particular, the idle screen had to feel expressive while remaining instantly readable.
I redesigned the standby experience with an analog clock featuring a 3D look and feel, integrated with live state information such as battery level and reception sensitivity. The layout prioritized visibility and a more dynamic delivery of everyday phone status.
The result was a more personalized idle-screen experience that increased information visibility while giving users a distinctive way to express individual taste. The project strengthened my discipline in balancing visual craft with practical phone constraints.
