Samsung Galaxy Gear/ 2012-13
Galaxy Gear was Samsung's first major wearable concept, requiring an interface that worked within the constraints of a small Tizen screen and limited input. The design challenge was to make core functions accessible without a physical home key.
I led interface and prototype design centered on a customizable double-tap interaction for quick access to settings such as volume and brightness. The approach prioritized simplicity, immediate feedback, and flows that could be learned quickly on a wrist-mounted display.
The double-tap pattern became a defining interaction for the device and was later patented. The project established a foundation for wearable UX that balanced minimal hardware with expressive, efficient control.
