SFCH Hematology / Oncology/ 2021

For the Studer Family Children's Hospital hematology and oncology unit, the design goal was to improve the day-to-day experience of children and families during long, high-stress treatment periods. The work focused on three connected areas: patient rooms, the playroom and lounge, and the movie room.

The concept used a "Submarine Experience" narrative to create continuity across the unit through environmental graphics, physical elements, and digital media. Each space carried its own mood while maintaining one coherent story that supported orientation, distraction, and emotional comfort.

The result was a more supportive and legible care environment designed to reduce stress and improve usability for patients, families, and staff. The narrative framework also created a scalable base for future updates across the oncology ward experience.
