We are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the value of the Studer Family Children's Hospital brand. To achieve this, we have implemented a rigorous process to ensure consistency and effectiveness in all design decisions, guided by design principles that prioritize a child- and family-centered approach. Our team understands the core service environments and patient demographics, and uses this knowledge to provide a comprehensive design solution with a unique and meaningful purpose.

We have focused our efforts on three key spaces within the hospital: the PACU, PICU, and PICU Family. Through careful analysis and evaluation, our goal is to create a flexible, colorful, and calming environment for children and families during a difficult time, while reflecting the vision and mission of the Studer Family Children's Hospital and meeting the projected completion date.

To enhance the patient experience, we are introducing an "Aquarium" theme for the PICU expansion. The allure of an aquarium appeals to both children and adults, fostering wonder, joy, and imagination, while also reducing stress and anxiety. The design will seamlessly incorporate different oceanic environments with physical and digital elements to bring a cohesive, yet distinguishable, theme to each area.

We are also excited to introduce a new form of wall mural that comes to life through augmented reality (AR) technology. This interactive experience will provide patients, families, and clinical staff with engaging resources and opportunities for fun, subtle visual, auditory, and cognitive interactions based on oceanic visual assets. Inclusively designed learning activities will serve as a positive distraction method to help reduce anxiety and stress for patients across all demographics.
